Everyone has a favourite chair. Ours is a George III carver chair that is hanging on for dear life, having been mended countless times, with replacement oak sections let in, cast iron straps, pegs, screws, nails - you name it, every conceivable repair has been carried out to this chair and it is still going strong.

We always felt the back splat looked like the profile of a face, and this inspired our Silhouette dining chair. The way it works is that you simply send us a side on photograph of the subject, and we will make up a back with their profile. Click on the thumbnails below to see a carver chair with Neri's profile, and a dining chair with Patrick's profile. Following these are images of the plain backed version. The penultimate thumbnail shows the old and new chairs together, and the last shows the old chair itself - another couple of hundred years' life in it yet!
