Cricket Table
There are several theories about how the traditional "Cricket Table" got its name, perhaps its three-legged format suits uneven, grassy ground when used whilst spectating a game of cricket, perhaps it's derived from the 17th century old Dutch term for a small stool with a circular top and three legs, it remains a mystery.
We decided to take elements of antique versions we own, and via the dual finish (oiled oak on the top, with enonised oak on the base), give ours a more contemporary feel. The rails feature a traditional "cherub lip" scallop, and the legs have chamfered corners. We've set the stretcher bars low, providing a foot rail of sorts if used as a table to sit at. We like to use these at the side of a sofa or armchair as a generous side table for lamps, books, and a glass of wine.
