Not only is this a sculptural object of great beauty...
Used by none other than Nigel Slater, the John Julian Porcelain Pestle & Mortar has been designed with chefs in mind. The porcelain is fired to an incredibly high temperature, which makes it durable and minimises chances of staining.
We would recommend washing both Pestle and Mortar in warm soapy water with a soft sponge. Stronger spices such as turmeric may stain temporarily, with any colouring fading over time. So don't be afraid to get creative with your pestos, pastes and dressings.
